2023 Niepoort 'Drink Me Nat Cool' Bairrada Tinto 1L

Made from hand harvested Baga grapes, 'Drink Me Nat Cool' is a chilled red made by Dirk and Verena Niepoort of the famed Niepoort Port house located along the Douro River in Portugal.

Dirk and Verena are the 5th generation to be growing and making wine within the family, still honouring traditional techniques and methods such as using Lagares granite fermentation vessels (similar to a Palmento found in Sicily).

Baga, the variety, is a red wine that's typically full of dark fruits (blackberry, cherry, cocao), high in tannins and high in acidity. Here, by gently macerating the fruit and pressing it relatively early, Dirk and Verena they have captured all of the bright, fresh fruit flavour and done away with the big grainy tannins. Serve this wine chilled and see one litre go down in a flash!
