2025 Atipico 'Syzygy' Orange Field Blend
A brand-new cuveé from Atipico's Jordan Hogg.
A Syzygy (rhymes with 'synergy') is an alignment of celestial objects, such as during a lunar eclipse, or a pair of connected things that are usually opposites. It's this tension and harmony that inspired Jordan to create this new skin-contact orange blend. Not his first foray into skin-contact wine (his award-winning 'Blanc' was first released last year), this is more structured and notably darker and peach-coloured in the glass.
Stylistically, this is very Atipico. It's alluring and punchy, while remaining poised and full of finesse. This would be equally at home as an aperitif on a sunny afternoon, as it would paired with pork belly, spicy noodles, or grilled eggplant. Another banger!
Notes: A distinctly spicy and aromatic nose of pineapple, cardamom, and fennel. On the palate juicy layers of crystalised ginger, tangerine and fresh pineapple. The palate is vibrant and framed with piquant and chalky fine phenolics that coat the tongue and provide a tactile framework with a lengthy finish.
Vinification: Handpicked, whole cluster fermentation, 20 days on skins, pressed directly into neutral oak. Élevage in seasoned French oak for 6 months. Unfined and unfiltered.
