Despite their small scale, Marlborough's Colere has grown to become one of the most acclaimed natural wine producers in New Zealand. A self-described 'micro-negociant' - fruit is sourced from select organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards, and the resultant wines are distinct, terroir-driven, and full of personality. We're thrilled to have a selection of their best wines now available in limited numbers!
Ashmore is one of Marlborough's oldest privately planted vineyards, with vines going in during the late 1970s at the point where the Brancott and Omaka valleys meet. Farmed organically, its glacial, free-draining soils sit at the cooler end of the Southern Valley.
Tasting Notes
Red cherry and wild berry on the nose, with allspice and forest floor earthiness. On the palate, terrific breadth and depth, plum and red fruit with notes of woody herbs, clove and woodsmoke. Chalky, fine tannins and brisk acidity carry a long, dry finish. A distinctive Pinot, one to enjoy with roast lamb or duck and fondant potatoes.
