A stunning, full-bodied exotic Condrieu from 100% Viognier sourced from 1.5 hectares at Chanson in Condrieu, this wine undergoes fermentation in large oak barrels followed by 11 months of aging in smaller French new oak barrels before bottling.
Pale straw-yellow, it offers concentrated aromas of candied peach, orange blossom, pineapple, and honey. The palate is medium-bodied with pronounced richness and subtle acidity, balanced tannins, and a lengthy, clean finish with hints of spicy tropical fruits.
To get the best out of it, try serving it cool cellar temperature and decanting it and see how the aromas develop magically in the glass.
Established in 1732 above Chavanay near Condrieu, Domaine du Monteillet is stewarded today by 10th generation winemaker Stéphane Montez. With a global viticultural education spanning Australia, California, and England, he returned in 1997 to oversee the family estate, managing vineyards in Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, and Saint-Joseph.
