2023 Selection Massale Orange... Last year's was our best selling orange wine and this year marks the first time Dan has been able to make it in New Zealand. We think the resulting wine is the best yet!

This time made from 100% Grüner Veltliner, an Austrian variety known for citrus, acidity and spice characteristics. The fruit is sourced from BioGro organic vineyards in Marlborough, macerated on skins for 6 weeks and aged on lees for an additional 12 months. The result is a rose gold, light copper hued orange wine, stylistically as light and juicy as its 2022 predecessor, but with finer tannins, pronounced peach and lemon on the palate, with a delicious spicy finish. This goes down a treat on its own, but also pairs well with rich, spicy or fried foods!

Production Notes:

Vinification
The fruit for this wine was wild-fermented on its skins for six weeks being pressed-off and returned into stainless steel tank. Full malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged on lees for 12 months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.

Professional Reviews & Tasting Notes

90/100 - Stephen Wong MW:
"Bright salmon orange. Dried Turkish apricot, ground pepper and seed spice with a pithy, chalky edge on the ripe, earthy nose leading into elegant, light-weight peppery flavours on the palate. The savoury, slightly chewy tannins of this skin-fermented white are supported by satisfyingly saline acidity which accompanies dried citrus peel and stone-fruit on the dry finish. Accessible now but should be enjoyed with food. Drink 2024-2028"
