To call this unique is an understatement! We're lucky to have received a very limited allocation of the one-off 2009 Entente Field Blend.
Although Marlborough in origin, Entente is very much Gentil d'Alsace in spirit. Viognier, chardonnay, gewürztraminer, pinot gris and riesling - sourced from organic growers Te Whare Ra - combine with extended bottle aging to create a semi-sweet, fragrant, unctuous wine.
Golden and viscous in the glass; apricot, pineapple, white florals and exotic spice on the nose. Showing great evolution in bottle, the body is weighty and complex, pleasantly sweet with bready vanilla, stonefruit and lychee giving way to a subtle oak and flinty mineral finish. While obviously great with a cheeseboard, it would also be a dynamite pairing with spicy rice or noodle dishes.
With only a few cases in stock, this wine is here for a good time, not a long time. Once it's gone, it's gone!
