A longtime Everyday Wine Customer favourite - Harrison Eaton's super modern take on Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is back as a new vintage and new blend!
This year 85% Sauvignon and 15% Riesling, there is plenty of clever winemaking at play here. In the open-top fermenter, the smaller portion of whole bunch Riesling was added first, before the destemmed Sauvignon added on top, undergoing wild fermentation and macerating on skins for 88 days. The wine was then basket-pressed to seasoned French oak, undergoing full malolactic fermentation. Three and a half months in barrel with intermittent lees stirring has created a unique, textural, and very moreish structural white blend.
Aromatically this bears the hallmarks of classic Sauvignon - with passionfruit and florals - complimented by a touch of floral and herbaceousness. The palate is acid-forward and all about texture, a wine to sit with while it develops in the glass.
Wine like this - both familiar and refreshing - is something we can't get enough of, and highly recommended for those looking to expand their palate!
