The third and final wine in their late-2024 release is Terroir Project's new Pét Nat! Made from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, this wine is packed full of lemon, lime, white peach and apricot, and has a lovely crisp, dry, refreshing acidity too!
What is Pet Nat? Pétillant Naturel, or Pet Nat for short, is a traditional style of bottle-fermented sparkling wine. By not undergoing a second fermentation in the bottle like Champagne does, the wine is packed with light, fresh and fruity flavours and aromas. Some pét nats are cloudy, retaining all the original yeast lees, while others aren't, from being disgorged (nb: this one is not cloudy). Most pet nats are dry too (as is this one). If you enjoy fruit flavour, natural acidity and fresher styles of sparkling like Prosecco give Pet Nat a try!
Terroir Project ("Tear-wah Pro-ject") is a new project of single-vineyard wines showcasing unique terroirs from around New Zealand and Australia. The wines are incredible translations of vineyard site and soil and in this case, a brilliant representation of pét nat that we love so much.
