Routeburn Pinot Noir is an Everyday Wine-exclusive label, sourced directly from a well-regarded Central Otago winery. Using our own label allows us to price it as we like, without reference to the original wines' $45 RRP.
This wine has received 94 and 95 points from Sam Kim of Wine Orbit for the 2021 and 2022 vintages - the 2024 vintage was remarkably better, and so is this wine!
What we thought:
Aromas: Spicy, dark cherry, truffles, dried herbs, amaro
Palate: Juicy, plush, concentrated fruit, long savoury finish with mushroom, sage, forest floor and cacao.
Characteristics: Nice balance of intense fruit and complex savoury notes. Plush, silky tannins. Juicy. Vibrant.
From the winemakers:
"Our fourth release. Hand-harvested, wild-fermented and matured in seasoned French oak for 22 months. Lifted aromas of black cherry, cassis and bramble, a palate layered with fruits, spice and superfine tannins, and nuances of maple, graphite and dried herbs on the finish. Delicious from release but will develop with time."
