Few winemakers can boast the privilege of crafting their wines amidst the dramatic landscapes of an active volcano!

For several years now, Anna Martens and Eric Narioo of Vino di Anna have been creating singular, distinctive wines using the indigenous grapes grown on the high-altitude slopes of Mt Etna, Sicily.

The grapes, ranging from 60-100 years old, are organically grown, vinification is mostly traditional winemaking techniques, including qvevri (clay vessels) and Palmento (old Sicilian cellar buildings). Minimal intervention, low sulfur, and no fining or filtration. The wines speak of their terroir, and sing with a joyous alchemy of expression and focus.

Bianco “G” is Vino di Anna's flagship white wine, the 'G' here standing for 100% Grecanico.

Pale golden in colour, this is a fresh and complex wine. The nose is initially tropical, giving way to white peach, apricot, and a hint of white florals. On the palate, there are layers of  yellow apples and ripe citrus along with toast, spice, and - as expected from Etna - a flinty, salty minerality. Medium-bodied with a very subtle effervescent lift and crisp acidity.

A wine to savour, and one complex enough to pair with a wide variety of dishes - from raw seafood, to olives, wood fired vegetables or roasted chicken.
