From winemaker Ryan:
"My First Single Vineyard wine release since taking over Willow Grove Vineyard.
20yr old, north facing vines on red volcanic soil. own rooted and never irrigated. MV6 & 114 clone (If you give a shit).
This vineyard site is beautiful but when I found it the vineyard itself was not. Overgrown with blackberries and vines dying back from trunk disease, It's been a fight to get it back into shape to say the least.
The fruit for this wine was destemmed into a tank on skins for a few weeks, gently punched down by hand every couple of days and pressed into old barriques for aging. The wine is fresh, with bright red fruits and bright acidity, heaps of fruit and floral aromatics and some subtle favoury characters. The exposed, north facing site has meant this wine has really nice tannin Structure. Quite tightly wound, It's a balance between power and delicacy. This wine will do well with some age."
