From the 'Don Alfio' vineyard above the village of Rovitello. 90-100 year old Nerello Mascalese. 0.6 hectare plot. All destemmed by hand into a 1500L buried Qvevri, closed off for four months before being emptied by hand, pressed-off and returned into the same Qvevri for another year.
Incredibly aromatic. Dark cherry, dried fruit, floral. Spicy, liquorice, chocolate. Savoury and dry. Firm acidity, real depth of flavour. Tannins have softened and integrated with age.
Organic, unfined, unfiltered.
